Fans of the Hyundai IONIQ 6 will be pleased to learn that the Korean automaker’s electric sedan will return to the market for the 2027 model year with a significant update.
Hyundai has decided to eliminate the regular IONIQ 6 from its lineup in the United States starting next year, with the exception of the high-performance IONIQ 6 N. Fortunately, the electric sedan will not suffer the same fate in Canada. Even though our market is smaller, the IONIQ 6 is a very popular car here.

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 will therefore take a short break for 2026, but the Korean automaker’s sedan will return in full force for the 2027 model year with major improvements. Hyundai is also reassuring buyers by stating that several 2025 units are still available in inventory for those who cannot wait.
While the car retains its silhouette, it benefits from new, slimmer headlights that further accentuate its character. The front bumper is also slightly different, and new wheel designs are expected as well.
Hyundai is also adding an N Line version to the 2027 IONIQ 6 lineup. This model will feature a sportier style inspired by the N version, but without the price tag that comes with it. This is a trend that can also be found across several other models in Hyundai’s lineup and one that has been gaining tremendous popularity among buyers. As such, I believe it was an excellent idea for the Korean automaker to bring the same concept to its fully electric sedan.
No New Powertrain
For now, Hyundai has not announced any mechanical changes for the 2027 IONIQ 6. As a result, it should offer the same options currently available, including a battery pack with a capacity of 77.4 kWh. Output ranges from 225 to 320 horsepower depending on the version you choose, excluding the N version, of course. Maximum range is rated at 550 kilometers, which is certainly right in line with the segment average.
The Hyundai IONIQ 6 is a bold car, and in my opinion, it still has its place on the market.
